:: fingerless gloves: not just for the homeless, anymore ::

I just got a pair of cashmere ones at J. Crew for a steal and I can't wait for them to arrive. And I'm going to wear them even at the risk of someone thinking I should be lighting a fire in a trashcan or lip-syncing "Material Girl." At least in Boston, there's only a brief window of opportunity to wear said gloves without risking frostbite and potential digit amputation. That time is now, and I'm moving on it.

I've yet to find a really stylish pair of gloves that are smartphone-friendly, and there's just something about having my fingertips free to dig through my handbag, inspect my manicure or catch germs on the subway.

Here are a few of my favorites from Polyvore. The buttons, the cableknit, the red. Love them all.

:: anchoring for autumn ::

I know that nautical themes make us think about popping bottles on a yacht (or drinking diet coke in a kayak as the case may be) but I've only recently felt drawn to this trend, so I'm trying to figure out how to stretch it into fall. And it turns out it's not going to be all that hard. Take a look below and see just a few things that caught my eye...it CAN be done without out getting all pastel-y and Lilly Pulitzer.

I think this little summer cross over is also going to be a metaphorical symbol for me. This past season was excessive--food, fun, cocktails, over scheduling, under-thinking. And now it's time to anchor down and get things under control. And I think that little purse is just the thing to tie me down.

:: scarves and scarves ::

I can't be the only one who sweats on their way to work only to enter a *very* air conditioned office. Since my summer attire of dresses and skirts doesn't mesh well with a layered fashion strategy, enter the scarf. It might be my favorite accessory of all time. And since I'm not a fan of patterns on my major items of clothing, scarves give me a chance to go a little bolder with print. All while keeping cozy at my desk.
