:: soggy but still fashionable ::

Do these seem silly? Because i kind of love them. I get that any kind of rubber shoe ends up being a glorified Croc, but my big Hunter boots are so clunky and sweaty for the summer that I can't bear to even look at them. So, my alternative is then flip flops when it rains and those involve slipping and gunk water on my feet. So, no. 

I guess in theory, if it REALLY rains, these aren't going to keep my feet dry, but they are going to avoid me from ruining a real pair of shoes. And that's the point...fashion preservation while still being a little cute. I just bought that purple pair of Chooka's below in black. And they're super comfy.

:: friday's fancies: work wear ::

Putting together the perfect work out was surprisingly harder than it sounds. My closet is filled with this stuff (I work at an Ivy). I have one friend who works as a CFO and she's the only one who dresses hard-core conservative. I think what's below is a nice happy medium. I don't want to look like a boy, but I don't want to be second guessing my outfit choices all day. And accessories can make up for A LOT. This I've learned.

I know they're so bad for me, but like Cheez-Its and the Real Housewives, I can't cut flip flops out of my life. I picked out a few here that make my eyeballs happy, but the real gem is that understated gold one up top. It's a Sanuk, and the sole is cushy yoga mat material. Heaven. I can (and do) walk around all day in this exact pair.

:: styling the window pane print ::

I'm usually anti any prints on my lower half. As any and all pear-shaped girls know, that's risky business. But this new window pane trend wants to make me reconsider.

I'm completely on board with this pattern when it comes to interiors--pillows, chairs, even bedspreads--but with apparel, I tend to just be much more picky. The size of the panes, the width of the border, how the seams match up and where exactly they land when they fall across my butt. And the black/white and blue/white combo feels a little....well, boring. But these J. Crew pants are a thing of beauty, aren't they?

Totally classy, on trend but not trendy, and paired with simple solids, they don't make me feel like everyone's just staring below the waist. They're drinking in this whole glass of water.

And the gold, the GOLD! I think I've officially abandoned silver forever this season.
