I'm sorry, but I hate the look of a backpack. Especially if I'm wearing a cute outfit and heading off to work and post-work cocktails. If I'm on a mountain camping or hiking, bring on the Patagonia, but otherwise...no.

Unfortunately, my back, neck and shoulders have been protesting as of late. And all this hellish snow have made me feel like I need both hands free in case I take a digger. It's only a matter of time, folks.

So, in the spirit of comfort and safety over vanity, I'm trying to find some backpack inspiration here:

I have handbags upon handbags upon handbags. But the really cute ones are too small for me to bring to work. I need space for my planner, books, magazines, a ridiculously too big wallet, snacks, etc. Those cute little cross bodies just aren't cutting it.

I'm on the hunt for the perfect hobo/satchel that I can take to work and won't kill my shoulder. And I occasionally frequently go for drinks after work so it needs to be something that can hang on a bar hook and not look or feel cumbersome. Here are some great picks off Polyvore that run the price gamut. And the hardware has to be gold. I'm a gold girl now, all the way.

I'm not a football girl. But I'm trying to be. It's one of my fall goals. Friends are trying to teach me the rules, but they're not really sticking...yet. But I watched the Patriots/Bills game last Sunday and I have tickets to next week's Harvard/Brown game. So I'm off to a strong start. Anyone have any viewing tips for me?

Regardless, I may not know what's happening on the field, but I do know what to wear. And that's something.
